The Fraser Magnolia is another very common large tree in my forest. The bark is smooth-looking from a distance, but actually densely warty. The large leaves have characteristic "ears" at their bases. The following two pictures are of a large specimen at the SE corner of Lot B. Circumference at chest height is 5 ft 10 inches.
A nice specimen in Lot A.
Two interesting trees on the ridge of Lot C, the first one having severe woodpecker damage.
Another large specimen grown close to the southern border of Lot A, just south of the spring. Circumference at chest-height is 5ft 8".
