In my forest I have not found any mature Black Cherry trees. There is only one very small tree / sapling, at the far SE edge of Lot A, very close to the border with the neighboring property. There is a medium-sized specimen just outside Lot C on the other side of the old logging road, however, that one seems to be declining rapidly. The leaf-edges are serrated, and singly-toothed, which distinguishes it from the ubiquitous Sweet Birch. The bark has horizontal lenticels (as does the Sweet Birch).
